Cuteness exists within the same solar system as the uncanny, humor, play, and absurdity. These modalities orbit one another and help to inform and support each others presence and criticality. Within art, all of these can be used to the artists advantage- i.e. the work of Mike Kelley. However, for this particular exhibition, we’ll concern ourselves more with the criticality and subversiveness of cuteness through the filter of cute aggression - keeping in mind that uncanniness, humor, play, and absurdity are also running throughout the works.
